Whitechapel Primary School,

"Our science week got off to a great start with a Birds of Prey workshop. Every child got the opportunity to handle these magnificent birds and watch them in action - it really did fill the children with awe and wonder, as well as providing opportunities for excellent cross-curricular links"

St Leonard's C of E Primary School,

July 2011, Year 5 went to Cuerden Valley Park for an 'Experience Day' with the Cuerden Birds of Prey.

The class had been studying 'The Tudors' in their history lessons. They had learnt that King Henry Vlll and his noblemen enjoyed falconry, so this visit enabled them to experience the thrill of this popular Tudor pastime.

The enthusiasm and knowledge of Richard Cookson, Head Falconer, ensured that the children and staff had a day to remember!  Everyone was given the opportunity to handle and fly the magnificent birds. Richard also involved the children and teachers in some amazing and exhilarating stunts, which you can see in the slideshow on this page.

We were very grateful to Richard for making it such a memorable visit and would certainly recommend the Cuerden Birds of Prey 'Experience Day'. You can read this article in full and see their images by following the above link.
